Mr. B.
Les Blachut's vast experience in music education has helped him develop a versatile and unconventional methods of teaching -- using the available resources to craft an individual approach for each student.
In Mr. B.'s class, students explore all the possibilities of their chosen instruments as well as other instruments that may be of their interest. Seeing the entire landscape enhances and completes their music education. Mr. B.'s keyboard instruction class is not only a fun learning experience but also an interactive encounter that brings out more than just a simple performance of printed music. For example, students may participate in a live recording session or produce an instrumental piece to accompany the singing of their favorite song. Or, they may analyze and transcribe recorded music, experiment with songwriting or improvisation, play some "Echo-Games" or take part in musical dictations.
In all of these activities, Mr. B. aims beyond the limits of music education in order to encourage students to reach their full creative potential and prepare for their future careers. Mr. B.'s multi-dimensional knowledge of music history from both the European and American perspectives became the inspiration for his Music History Program. It is one-of-a-kind program that involves all six of the student's senses by testing listening, reading, writing, composing, performing, researching, problem-solving and "fun-having" skills within a single theme of a particular music concept.
Mr. B.'s basic knowledge of mechanics and a natural desire to "fix things" allows him to recyle and bring back to life any musical instrument or audio equipment that others would send to a trash bin. Mr. B.'s basic working knowledge of most concert band instruments such as the recorder, trumpet, clarinet, flute, bells, drums, percussion ans his music arranging skills make him a useful concert band teacher.
Les Blachut currently resides in Coconut Creek, FL and is available for any music-related projects.
